Long Range Shooting..Further than 25 yards???

Hey, welcome back....

Well, congrats to Ronfic, for his win last week... Nice job. My Cardinals lost, costing me a lotta points. They're still in a room with a bunch of calculators, adding up how many picks Kurt Warner threw. Ugh!!

I see Arizona did manage to hold off the vaunted Detroit Lions, getting my 16 point pick tied up to the dock.

Anyways, how about those Cowboys!!!! Nobody gave them a chance. Except for me, and Badgergil, and Florida Boys DD, and Sears.... VBS, no faith in the squad. Hmmm. Folk missed ANOTHER super short field goal... Ugh. These kickers...

In earlier action today, Tennesse was leading by 15 all afternoon.... and then Pow, tied up, a minute-something to go. Waaaay too much drama... Atlanta was losing all day... right till the last minute there.

Steelers needed 1 play to go up 7-nothing. Nice. And The Great Crosby has already missed a field goal....

3:55 remaining, 2nd quarter, bounce off the hands, almost picked off by the Steelers... Steady fellas.

Aaron Rodgers, takes it in himself!!! From 20 yards out!!! What a run! I have NO CLUE what the celebratory hands at the belt gesture was all about.... I'm not sure I wanna know. Crosby comes out, and NEARLY MISSES the extra point!!! Gaaahh! Yanked HARD LEFT. Ted Thompson, call your frickin' office, this guy is DONE. An extra point really shouldn't send your beer and crackers surging up from your stomach. You really shouldn't need a plastic-lined wastebasket for an extra point.... Yikes. Yeeesh. I'm gonna have to get some Pepto Bismol and have it ready here in front of the big screen, in preparation for Crosby's next attempt of anything.

27 seconds left in the half, Pittsburgh goes up 21-14, a few big pass plays on that drive.... Funny, the Steelers' place kicker made that extra point look easy...

Moving right along, 2nd half underway, Coach Mike McCarthy tries to challenge an obvious completion along the sidelines... Nice. Blow a second half timeout, while you're losing, on the road, in a hostile environment... Good going coach. I also love the pained look on his face when they announced the play stands as called.

**********

Okay, I set my laptop down for awhile... Too many snacks, whew. It is now Monday morning.

Wrap-up thoughts on the Packer game: in a word, unreal. Again, Aaron Rodgers did enough to secure a comeback win. The Packer D, on the other hand, did not. I will say that Packer fans in my house were screaming at the TV, urging the squad to go for the TD, and not put this game on Crosby's leg... And lo and behold, that's what they did!! It LOOKED like a win, for a minute there....

And it wasn't enough. Turns out I needed the Packers desperately to win, to keep my slim hopes alive in a different pool. And, they did not.

Biiig Sigh... You hitch your wagon to these Packers at your own risk, truly. Biiiig Siiiigh

Another note from that game: What exactly was Dr Foreman doing over there, on the opposite sideline??? Onside kick, with 3 and change to go, while you're LEADING??? At the time, I was baffled, and couldn't make any sense out of it. In the icy cold grey dawning light of Monday Morning, it makes no sense at all. Leading by 2, no less... If the Packers actually had a field goal kicker on the roster right now, all we have to do is kick the FG, and boom. I don't get that one at all. Talk about outsmarting yourself.... wow.

Speaking of December swoons, (wait, were we speaking of December swoons?? I guess we are now...) While the Cowboys got a big win, and Tony Romo continues to play well, a certain dude on the Vikings just lost another one. And got in a big argument with his head coach, to stay in the game. Hmmm. Uhhhmmmm Hmmmm. Yeah... Favre Hating Nation will love that he was sacked 4 times, no TD's, 1 late meaningless pick.

Actually, I wonder how Carolina Fan feels after Matt Moore came in and played great. You stuck with Jake Delhomme all season. Now, true, you're paying Delhomme a ton of money to sit on the bench, but...

Matt Moore: 21 off 33, 299 yds, 3TD's. Not bad. Another strange game, Minny-so-cold was up 7-6 (on a missed John Kasay extra point, ugh) until Carolina exploded for 20 in the 4th quarter.

(And again, Jake, Nick, Kevin, et al, if you're not working hard to be a football kicker, you're missing the boat... and you're missing the bevy of college co-eds who can't wait to "get busy" with the dude who kicked the game winning field goal... A plethora of girls.... a myriad of girls... whatever...)

Speaking of Jake Delhomme, you can check out a lot of very interesting articles on a site called http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/

Michael Lombardi and Andrew Brandt have great articles on there. Worth checking in on from time to time. Andrew Brandt last week broke down what JaMarcus Russell is really going to cost the Raiders... His career appears to be over. The Raiders started Charlie Frye yesterday, and got a win. His bust status now has to be near the Ryan Leaf or Tony Mandarich area. There's thin air up that high on Mount Bust-more... Throw in how high he was picked, and how, like it or not, he's going to end up with $40 million dollars from the Raiders.... Breathtaking bust.

Author's note: I just re-read that sentence, and saw that I mis-typed $0 Million... It didn't have the same impact, somehow. I bet the Raiders wish it was $0 Million...

Brandt also has a slightly older post on there about what Delhomme is really going to cost the Panthers. Great stuff.

Heisman: I don't really care about the Heisman that much, but isn't it time to AT LEAST start giving 2 Heismans, one for offense, 1 for defense??? In the last 70 years, 3 guys who were not halfbacks or quarterbacks won the award. Three. So instead of saying "Best Player in College football", why not just say "Running Back or Quarterback who received the Most Hype.", and let it go at that....

Anyway, Badgergil is untouchable at this point. Congrats to him for a big win. Badgergil crushed us so badly, he passed up Leo Woods for 3rd in the season standings. Ouch. That's gonna leave a mark. As the E-Trade Baby would say, he just issued us a beat-down... 11 on the Cowboys. I wanted to do that, I just couldn't bring myself to it. I really had a feeling about that one. I dunno what I'm crying about though, even if I move my 15 from the Vikings to the Cowboys, he still beats me by ten....

Well, I have to go now, but let say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and your families.

Also, here's a little tip: Don't buy an Amazon Gift Card. Just don't. I order a gift card from amazon, along with some other stuff. The other stuff comes, there's no gift card in the box. I send my complaint letter to amazon, they write back, no problem, we'll process your refund. A day later, I get an email "Oh, that gift card has been used by an unauthorized party. We can't refund you. Call your credit card company and stop that charge."

Huh?? Number One, you're Amazon!! It's all internet based!! Find out who used that card, and give their name and address to the authorities, and have them arrested for using a stolen gift card!!! Is that so hard?? Number Two, since when is calling your credit card company and cancelling the transaction a normal course of refunding money?? Very strange. So I gotta call my credit card company this morning, I guess.... I need a personal assistant. I really do. I have things to do here. Like I got all day to fart around with this crap. So, take a lesson, never buy a gift card from amazon.

Have fun, and good luck next week!!!
